Wisconsin Roots

Author and Illustrator Doug Haynes has deep roots in Wisconsin. He was born in Madison, WI. His great great grandparents came to Wisconsin in the mid 1850s, around the time the Republican Party was founded. Haynes' great great grandfather volunteered for the Union army and served in what came to be called the Iron Brigade. His family has lived in Wisconsin for 5 generations. Haynes is a published author and has been a professional artist for over 30 years. Despite having lived in Wisconsin for most of his life, Haynes learned much about Wisconsin history in the process of writing this book.
